What’s a Design Sprint?

The Design Sprint is a proven methodology for solving problems through designing, prototyping, and testing ideas with users. Design Sprints quickly align teams under a shared vision with clearly defined goals and deliverables. Ultimately, it is a tool for developing a hypothesis, prototyping an idea, and testing it rapidly with as little investment as possible in as real an environment as possible.

This full-day workshop will arm you with the knowledge to plan and run effective design sprints within your organization from startups to enterprise orgs. You will learn how to accelerate collaboration and enable effective ways of working together on problems that matter the most. You will gain the confidence to facilitate sessions and be able to experiment with the format (5 day, 4 day, 3 day,..).

Learning outcomes

  • Familiarize yourself with Design Sprints and be able to facilitate it to your at your organization

  • It would help you create design sprint plans, design sprint briefs, when and when not to conduct design sprints, create a design sprint agenda, conduct user research, facilitate lightning talks, setup space (in-person and remote), and present results and a clear path forward. 

  • Encourage higher collaboration with designers/Product Managers to think more broadly about the problems they tackle and apply multiple frameworks to their design/roadmap decisions.

  • Communicate the importance and impact of Design Sprints within your organization

Instructor Bio:

With a background in Architecture and Semiotics, Majid has parlayed his passion for user-centric design into his roles as a User Experience Consultant over the past ten years. An award-winning designer and creative problem-solver, he has led and collaborated with high-performing teams in companies ranging from startups to multinationals and agencies. Majid has conducted workshops for a wide range of clients such as Canadian Armed Forces, design professionals, Academics, Pharma Executives,... He is an Industry-Partner-in-Residence for the University of Toronto’s UXD program and OCAD industrial design program. He continues his work in mentoring up-and-coming UX and tech students.
